Just a note...

to say I may be missing in action for a week or so as I am off to visit my lovely Mum and daughter.

I booked the flight ages ago...and then saw on the news today that there are strikes proposed for the day of my flight so who knows when I will arrive in Cornwall....could be an interesting day. I am determined to be relaxed...I shall make sure I have a really interesting book to read...lots of chocolate and I should be fine...might even pop in a Sudoku or two in case I get really bored. Ha ha can you tell I was a Girl Guide...Be prepared is still my motto.

I had my last Card Class today before Christmas and this photo shows the girls efforts...they are doing so well and seem to enjoy it...even when I nag them!!

I was amazed this week to get Top 3 at Digi Doodle Shop's Best and a Top 5 at Meljen's Designs. Thank you girls...the encouragement is really appreciated.

Thank you for visiting....do become a follower if you like what you see....and have a really special week.
Hugs,
Sandra

I keep forgetting

to take a photo of cards I have made for orders. So I haven't any photos of last weeks work.

Mind you I have been poorly sick this last week. I had a cold that completely floored me. Thankfully I am feeling much better now and am back to crafting.

As some of you know I am involved in running a centre for the homeless and vulnerable here in Torrevieja called Reachout. We have had some great publicity and here is the link to one of the articles. It is a place of heartbreaking stories but a place of wonderful miracles as well.

This was a quick card to make although it was a challenge for me to make a Christmas card in these colours of orange and/or brown....but I think it works.

Card Supplies:
Card Blank & Backing paper-Stash.
Image-Meljen's Design & ProMarkers.
Halfpearls- Papercellar.
Snowflakes- Woodware punches.
Stars- Artwork.

Recycling is an art...

or is it just Art?
I love recycling and I was really pleased with this card for my dear Mum. I wonder if you can guess where the recycling comes into it....well the bow, button etc is from a handbag I have just thrown away!! It has also given me ideas for more decorations.

I actually went to my local craft shop to pick up a large snowflake punch or die...but this was too cute to resist!!

Distressed...

the edges of this card for a change...and I like it!!!

I won this image, along with a few others ages ago,but have only just got round to putting it on a card. I was waiting for some lovely rich backing papers...and found them in a pack of beautiful papers by Tina Higgins-Papermania. They are gorgeous.

I kept wanting to add more to this card but I eventually refrained and I am pleased the paper is not hidden.

First time for..

using a die cut sheet and card blanks. I sent for these dies...with 16 FREE card blanks during the summer and am slowly getting to use them.
The blanks are A5 but I have cut most of them into a 14.5cm square...isn't it interesting how our preferences change over the years.

My dear Mum has asked me do make her some special cards for her to send to some of her friends...and I think this will be one for her box. I haven't really sorted out how many cards I need myself yet. Last year I am sorry to say I ended up sending bought cards because of the horrendous postage costs to send handmade cards from Spain to the UK. However this year I am traveling over on the 30th November so I can take the important ones with me.

The bow was my practice one I did on an old scrap piece of card...it has been sitting on my desk for weeks and I just had to use it....waste not, want not, ha ha.

Card Supplies:
Card blank from Hunkydory Crafts.
Greeting from Anita's.
Ribbon and layering from stash.
Snowflakes made using Woodware punches.
Bling from stash.

I would like to enter the following Challenges:
Anything Goes- Die Cuts/Punches.
Ribbon Carousel Challenge #23- Anything Goes.
Fab 'n' Funky #93 Die Cuts/ Punches.
Ribbon Girl Challenge-Christmas.

Thank you for visiting my blog...I was so pleased to win a Top 3 at Paperplay Crafts this week for my calendar. It is always so encouraging when other crafters give feedback and leave me comments.

Have a great week,

Black and White again...

but for a special reason. My theme of Black and White Christmas Cards was chosen for this weeks Cupcake Craft Challenge.

I am looking forward to seeing all the wonderful ideas and designs and visiting everyone's blog.

Card Supplies:
Card blank and matting: Stash.
Half pearls: Mark Richards.
Bling: Poundland....bargain!
Ribbon:Par Market, Cornwall.
Sentiment: Hunkydorycrafts.
Backing paper: stash.
I bought the image years ago from Ollie Doodles, Costa Blanca and have no idea of the design. It is still one of my favourites and comes out most Christmases.
I used Momento ink and then used my Sakura gel pen to put glitter on all the shady parts. Sorry this doesn't show very well in the photo. I find this really lifts a dark image like this one.

Thank you for visiting...please become a follower if you want to...I love visiting other blogs and any comments are much appreciated.

Have a special week.

Diamond Easel calendar....

with lots of blue butterflies!

Do you ever wish you hadn't started a project? This could have been one of those times..but thankfully it turned out better than I had hoped.

I had been planning on making an easel card as a sample for one of my card class lessons. I thought I would save one of the papers (not this one) so I could make another card for my Occasion box....wrong move. When I tried to print it my printer wouldn't print blue. I spent ages cleaning the heads, replacing cartridges because the ink then ran out etc etc...after about an hour I gave up. When Terry came home he also tried, cleaning the nozzles etc. He finally got the blue working after replacing more cartridges and then couldn't get the magenta to work!!!
After more head cleaning he suddenly realized he hadn't removed the little piece of tape over the breather hole!!

I did get to make this calendar though.

I have been making a lot of Black and White cards as well as gold and cream cards lately. It has been a joy to play with one of my favourite colours again.

Calendar Supplies:
Card from my stash.
Backing paper from a magazine...I have been saving it for a special project.
Calendars from Trago Mills, Newton Abbot.
Flourishes using Big Shot and Cheery Lynn die.
Butterflies: Marianne Creatables.
Frame cut using X Cut Dielicious.
Half pearls and flowers from The Range.
Feather from Trimits.

I would like to enter this calendar for the following challenges:

Back home....

and ready for a rest!!

I had a wonderful time with my Mum. Both of us then went and stayed with Naomi and Grant in Torquay. My lovely friend Jo also visited with us for 3 days from Southampton. I haven't seen her for 3 years after she moved back to the UK.

I bought lots of craft goodies although we were so disappointed to find our favourite craft shop in Totnes has sadly closed. It's strange therefore that I decided to use an image that I had stamped and glittered ages ago.

I had never known how to use it because it was a long rectangle...and then yesterday I decided to cut it down and this is the result.

Card Supplies:
Image from stash.
Ribbon from my Mum's stash.
Half pearls from Papercellar.
Backing paper Sugar & Spice- Dovecraft.
Gold Metallic Webbing from Craft Creations.
Flourishes made using a Cheery Lyn die and Bigshot.

This week it's been Black and White...

and I love the clear lines and simplicity of these cards.

I am always a bit unsure of using only black and white on a card but every time I pluck up courage I am pleased with the results...hopefully you will agree...but if you don't do let me know...I welcome constructive encouragement...ha ha!

I am also out of my comfort zone when using gold and silver together but I think it works.

My starting point for these cards were some sale items I bought on one of my trips to the UK. I saw the pack of silver and black Christmas trees and they were so cheap I couldn't resist them...

I have saved some for my card class...I am looking forward to the reactions for a monochrome card... my girls really like the traditional colours for Christmas...reds, golds, greens etc.

Card Supplies.
Trees: I think they are from The Range.
Ribbon: From Ollie Doodles, Costa Blanca and my Mum's stash.
Greetings: Docrafts SeeD's and computer generated.
Circles cut using Big Shot and Nesties.
Memento ink.
Backing paper is a black & white photocopy of a coloured paper.
Bling from stash as is all the card.
Copious amounts of Stickles Glitter glue...mainly Icicle and Silver.

I would like to enter the following challenges.

White on white..

I love white embossed cards and was inspired by the CAS blog for these cards.

I also love the flourish from Cheery Lynn....so as you can imagine I am quite pleased to be able to combine both aspects on these cards.

These were easy to make and I am putting them in my 'quick & easy' box as they can be used for many occasions.

This was another easel card I made last week for a friend...similar to the previous one in pink but I loved colouring the image....I think I need a hammock before next summer!!

You may have noticed the extra blog this week. We had a wonderful thunder storm yesterday which has cleared the air and lowered the temperature a little....I am on a crafting roll.

Thank you for visiting my blog. I love your encouraging comments.
Have a wonderful week.

Flower power!

I have been sorting some of the flowers I bought from ebay a few years ago....they were a real bargain...over 500 flowers and petals for less than 15 pounds...I don't think I will ever manage to find another bargain like that again....but I live in hope. As I was checking what colours I need to stock up on a few just arranged themselves together and this is the card that evolved...
I have been experimenting with a few fonts and sentiments. I also used some die cut leaves under the flowers which you can't see very clearly in the photo. I used mulberry paper and they really add to the texture.
In the background you can see some of our lovely palms and tomato plants. We have not had any rain for ages so the tomato crop has involved lots of work watering them...but they taste so different from those in the shops.
Card Supplies: Flowers - Ebay, stash and WOD.
Card, backing paper and ribbon - Ollie Doodles, Costa Blanca.
Bling and half pearls- Papercellar.
Flourishes and leaves - Cheery Lyn, Sissix and BigShot.
Sentiment cut using Nesties.

Monochromatic....

Christmas card with a double bow. I managed to finish this card today in spite of the temperature!!

I have been practicing tying bows and decided to try one of Becca's double ones. She is a very inspiring lady and does some very good tutorials too.

I have always struggled with tying my shoelaces and bows because my lovely Dad was ambidextrous and showed me the left hand way...I have been confused ever since. It is strange because I have also found that I do various things left handed even though I am predominantly right- handed.

Card Supplies:
Ribbon: Par Market, Cornwall.
Medallions cut using a Sissix die and Big Shot.
Bling coloured with Sharpie pens.
Backing paper, card and greeting from stash.

First Christmas card

of the year....and it took ages.
I am beginning to make samples for the girls in the card class I run in Pilar de la Horradada. This is a middle step card....again in golds which I am liking more and more.

I followed the instructions from a well known card magazine...only to discover they weren't quite accurate. Well, not according to my limited understanding. The instructions said to score all the lines so the middle step had score lines along the middle of it. I therefore had to make another card but as I was on a roll I made 2 so that I have a template for the card class. I really enjoyed making this card and hope it shows.

Card supplies:
Image for internet.
Backing paper Papermania, designed by Tina Higgins.
Glitter strip/ribbon- Papermania.
Medallion cut using sissix and Big Shot.
Inked edges with Studio G.
Half pearls from Papercellar, bling from Poundland all coloured with Sharpie pens.
Card, snowflakes and poinsettia from stash.
Stickles glitter around image and on flower.

I'm working at slow speed...

due to the heat but managed to finish this card yesterday. I bought the lovely hand-made paper at China Blue in Totnes on my last visit to the U.K. Naomi is so pleased to be finally decorating her salon and flat that we have to visit lots of interesting places...I am not complaining, though, as she has some great design ideas.

I placed the paper on my desk and in only a few moments I had all the card, embellishments etc all laid out to match. I had not really thought about it but this is one of my favourite colours. I also realized that I have a few tops and cardi's in this colour too!!

Card was made using:
Hand-made paper from China Blue.
Card from Craft Creations.
The image is one from my friend Jo, coloured using ProMarkers.
The flowers were punched using a Woodware punch and glittered using Stickles.
Other flowers are from WOC and stash.
Sentiment is Anita's Foiled Die Cut.
The flourishes are cut with my Big Shot and the die is from Cheery Lynn.
Ribbon is from Ollie Doodles, Costa Blanca.

Playing...

with some of the crafty items I picked up in the UK. I just love the die cut flourish from Cheery Lynn so came up with this step card...inspired by Crafty Kat's blog. I have been wanting to make a step card for ages and this is just the prototype as it wasn't quite correct...but I think Naomi's friend will like it.

I am back to one of my favourite colours with this card, using lace from my Mum's stash, card from my stash, EK sucess punch and pearls from Paper cellar.I have used a Tilda image coloured with Pro Markers and some little butterfly and flower beads. The lace circle is another Marianne Creatables...I love them.

Thank you for your comments, I love hearing from you....and welcome any new followers to my blog. xxxx

Finishing touches...

before I travel back to the UK. I have struggled crafting this week as I have been so busy with the Reachout Centre and it has been so hot. But I did manage to finally finish this card. I usually make mostly pink, purple, blue and lilac cards but this blog has really helped me get out of my comfort zone and I am really beginning to love oranges, peach, gold, creams etc.

I made the flower from a tutorial by Becca on Amazing Paper Grace.

Card Supplies:
Paper: K & Company.
Acetate swirls and squares using BigShot and Nellies Multi frame and Sizzix Dies.
Frame distressed using Metallic rub-ons.
Half-pearls and Pearl Clusters: Papercellar.

Classic in white...

and I love it. This card looks really simple to make but it actually took 2 days to get it just right. I couldn't believe white card came in so many shades and I ended up having to do all the die-cutting just for this card and was unable to use any items I had previously cut....but I am really happy with the end result. On Becca's blog Amazing Paper Grace she talks about having cards 'to go' that you can do quickly and adapt for the occasion...and I think this is one I will make again...and again.

I think it will suit Birthdays, Thank yous, Weddings and even Sympathy cards with a few small adjustments.

Card Supplies:

Various Cuttlebug Embossing Folders and my Big Shot.
Ribbon 'borrowed' from my Mum's stash.
Butterflies die cut using Marianne Creatables.
Anita's Foiled Sentiment.
White Opal Liquid Pearl.

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Busy week

but most enjoyable, despite the high temperatures...it was 36 degrees in the shade last Saturday at 8pm. However I am gradually going into Spanish summer mode....housework (sorry for swearing!!!) done as soon as I get up or not at all and then everything else is done at half-speed...or not at all. It takes some getting used to but I try hard !!!

This week I was really intrigued by the I love ProMarkers challenge....Black, white and one other colour.
This is my attempt...and I have to say I am really pleased with it..even the dog was coloured using Blush and Dusky Pink!!

Card Supplies:
Image from my friend Jo coloured with ProMarkers.
Fiskers Border Punch.
Flowers made with Big Shot and Marianne Creatables.
Paper and card from Stash.
White pearl circles and little flowers from Papercellar.

Cameras and me

don't seem to get on very well. I am using Naomi's older version and it seems to eat up batteries. I know we have a lead for it somewhere but I have looked and looked.
I would love some comments on how you prefer taking your pictures of cards. I have tried from above, at an angle and face on but I am still not happy with my images. Any tips would be much appreciated!!

There still seem to be lots of challenges for Fathers Day cards or cards for men. I found this particularly poignant as my dear Dad passed away 18 months ago and Father's Day is not an easy day. I know many of you are going through similar times so I send blessings to you all.

I am still experimenting with my wonderful ProMarkers and I think I am improving...what do you think.

I used an older Little Claire stamp coloured with ProMarkers.
The thread is from Artwrap and the button brads are from Bazzill.
I bought the papers during a visit to Canada in 2007 and the card and elephants are from my stash.

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Summer's arrived

and it's getting hot.
I have stocked up on reading material...the bottom of Terry's wardrobe is now full of bags of books.
It can actually get too hot to craft as you end up sticking to all the paper etc. When this happens I usually end up reading for most of the day...and taking long siestas!!
However I persevered today and this little red number is what I came up with.

Card Details:
Sugar Nellies image coloured with my ProMarkers.
Red and white card embossed using Big Shot and Cuttlebug Folder.
The Middle was cut with Nesties and a Marianne Creatable.
The ribbon, lace, butterfly, pearls and flowers are from my stash.

I'm on a roll...

really enjoying my crafting at the moment.
Spent a perfect day yesterday with Terry and friends, sitting on their boat in Torrevieja Marina. Sadly we couldn't go out as they were waiting for a spare belt for the engine...that is where my technical expertise stops! We had a super lunch, took Chloe, our loco Spanish rescue dog, for a long walk and talked to Naomi on the phone.
Had great fun making this Man's/ Boy's card. This is the first image I have used from a bundle of images my dear friend has recently sent me.....Jo, you're a star and a special friend.

Pretty in Purple.

My craft cupboard is now sorted and it has been great fun finding lots of assorted material that I had completely forgotten about. Hence my cards at the moment are made mostly from stash!!

The border is an MS punch-Scroll Lace.
The Magnolia stamp was coloured with ProMarkers.
The flowers are from The Range.
The lace is from a huge bundle I have 'borrowed' from my Mum's hoard. She is not making cards at the moment but hopefully will feel well enough to start again soon.

Following a Sketch....

for the first time with this card.
I quite enjoyed the process although I wish I had used some DP on the card as well.

I am using up lots of my stash at the moment as I organize my craft cupboard. I used the EK Success punch Arch Scallop and the cupcake Embossing folder from Victoria & Albert Museum.
I would like to enter this card for the Crafts for Eternity Challenge R #22.

I'm back....home...

and the weather has been a little changeable but lovely and warm.
It was wonderful being with Naomi and Grant helping prepare and then being with them for the opening of Elegance Salon in Torquay.

As you can imagine there was very little time for any card making. It has taken a few days to get back into the crafty swing so I decided to recycle some old cards for sale for a drop in centre I am helping with. Hopefully the profits can help fund this very necessary project. Spain has a huge unemployment problem at the moment and many families are really suffering.

I would like to add the above card to the following challenges:
Cupcake Craft Challenge #144.
PaperPlay Challenges #22.
Fab'n'Funky Challenge 'What'eva'.

The card class I run has now taken a break for the summer so I am going to enjoy experimenting and playing. I will post some more photos soon. xxxx
